Player Development
Coaching Philosophy
At River City FC we believe that all players are unique and must have a stimulating, challenging, enjoyable, and safe environment to grow in the four components of the game; technical, cognitive, tactical, and physical. It is our passion to create this environment through every phase of development so that each individual can reach their potential.
We will create an environment that allows players to express themselves, take risks, and be challenged. We will do this in an effort to foster a growth mindset in our players so that they see challenges as a way to learn, failure or struggle as a way to grow, that their effort and attitude will determine their abilities, and that the focus should be on their overall development and not just wins and losses.

The Curriculum
The River City FC curriculum is a comprehensive player development program designed to guide young soccer players on their journey to reach their full potential. The curriculum is divided into four phases, each with its own unique focus:
Foundation (U6-U8): This phase focuses on introducing players to the game of soccer while having fun and enjoying the sport. The core technical skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control are emphasized, with the goal of providing a solid foundation for future growth.
Youth Development 1 (U9-U12): In this phase, players build on the technical skills learned in the exploration phase and are introduced to basic individual and team tactics. Physical preparation and cognitive game development are also emphasized, as players learn how to think critically about the game and make decisions on the field.
Youth Develoment 2 (U13-U15): Players in this phase continue to develop their technical skills and expand their tactical understanding of the game. Physical preparation and readiness are also prioritized, as players are challenged to increase their speed, endurance, and overall athleticism.
Transition (U16-U18): The transition phase is focused on preparing players to compete at the next level, with a focus on playing and competing through the use of various tactics and strategies. Individual player development within the context of the team is emphasized, as players work to refine their skills and make an impact on the field.
the River City FC curriculum provides a clear pathway for players to progress and reach their full potential, while also promoting a love of the game and a commitment to lifelong learning and growth.New Paragraph
